  CCIM Connection

Certified Commercial Investment Members (CCIM) are well-positioned within the total real estate spectrum. They are real estate strategists with years of specialized education and market experience with which to direct clientele through the complexities of the commercial investment real estate environment. CCIMs are well versed in proven real estate methods and have achieved a mastery of various disciplines, including asset management, consulting, market and property analysis, opinions of value, property management, sale-leasebacks, site selection and taxation law.

As expert negotiators, CCIMs can be the vital link in producing a profitable investment portfolio - multi or single property.

The CCIM designation is conferred by the Commercial Investment Real Estate Institute, an affiliate of the National Association of Realtors. The 240 hours of graduate-level curriculum leading to the CCIM designation, represent the finest education available in the commercial investment discipline. Equally rigorous, are the post- curriculum transactions, documentation and the 8-hour comprehensive examination.

This designation process ensures that CCIMs are proficient, not only in theory, but also in practice.

Of the estimated 80,000 commercial and real estate practitioners North America wide, only 3,000 have earned the CCIM designation, which reflects not only the caliber of the program, but why it is one of the most coveted and respected designations in the industry.

The CCIM membership network mirrors the changing, increasingly specialized nature of the industry and includes brokers, developers, property managers, appraisers, financial planners, mortgage bankers and attorneys-at-law - all part of an elite corps of commercial and investment real estate professionals, responsive to the dictates of a rapidly changing market.

National, regional and local forums allow CCIMs to stay in touch with the pulse of the market across the country or across town, while marketing sessions afford the opportunity to present client properties to a national audience of realtors.

In 1999, with the launching of CCIM.com, its presence in the commercial market grew. The introduction of the CCIM "Site to do Business" provides a forum to expose property to all North American CCIMs. The CCIM business network, which encompasses 1,000 markets throughout the world, mirrors the increasingly changing nature of the industry and includes brokers, leasing professionals, investment counselors, asset managers, appraisers, corporate real estate executives, property managers, developers, institutional investors, lenders, attorneys, bankers, and other allied professionals. Throughout this business network, and through enhanced communication with the CCIM electronic network, CCIMs complete approximately 60,000 transactions annually, representing $54 billion in value.

Charlie Oliver received his CCIM designation in 1988. Through Charlie, Martek has access to the CCIM North American network.
